Dimitar Stankov
Dimitar Stankov was born in 1985 in Sofia. He found his vocation as an artist at a relatively early stage of his life – while observing the work of his mother, a fashion designer. After completing his secondary education at the Secondary School of Applied Arts “Saint Luka”, he received a BA in Art Processing of Metals at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, followed by a BA and MA in Jewelery Design and Silversmithing from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Dimitar’s works evoke associations delicately depicted in his rare and stylish eccentric small sculptures. They are a result of strict dedication, meticulous work and an extensive research process. An important element of his craft is the Bulgarian cultural heritage which inspires him to create beautiful and imaginative associations combining folklore and modernity. Dimitar’s art is part of private and museum collections.
Dimitar Stankov currently lives in Brussels, where he works as a jewelery teacher, jeweler and freelance artist.
