Chris Haughton is an Irish illustrator and author of children’s books and a social entrepreneur. He was listed in Time magazine's DESIGN 100 for the work he has been doing for fair trade clothing company People Tree.
His style of drawing is absolutely inimitable. His debut book 'A Bit Lost' made the world fall in love with his characters. Published first in September 2010, it has been translated into 27 languages, winning numerous awards. Four more titles followed - 'Oh No George' (2012), ‘SHH! We have a plan’ (2014), “Goodnight Everyone” (2016) and ‘Don’t Worry, Little Crab’ (2019).
In 2011, together with Akshay Sthapithe, Chris co-founded a fair trade company in Nepal called Node. It operates as a non-profit and aims to connect the best designers and illustrators and convert their images into highest quality hand-made fair trade items. They cooperate with fair trade organisations to empower the economically disadvantaged. Node’s first exhibition displayed 18 rugs by well known artists like Jon Klassen, Beatrice Alemagna, Geoff McFetridge and Donna Wilson at the Design Museum in London.
