Her teaching focuses on topics, such as transformation research and sustainable supply chain management in relation to the global fashion business. Prior to that, Prof. Schwarz worked for 20 years in the private sector. Among other things, she worked as a VP of Product Development and Design in the golf and sportswear industry in Los Angeles and as a Design and Procurement Consultant for American and German businesses. For several years, she also ran her own label LUDWIG & SCHWARZ, collaborating with artists by developing a limited edition “Moving Canvas Collection”, made in Germany. Furthermore, she is actively involved at international congresses and co-operating in socio-political working groups, regarding alternative economic strategies and sustainable value chain models. Education for sustainable development (ESD) in collaboration with universities, fashion brands and non-governmental organizations is of crucial importance to Prof. Schwarz. This is key for a transformation towards more sustainability. Recently her university was involved in a student collaboration project about rethinking the fashion system “A New Approach to Sustainable Design & Marketing. Inspired by Joseph Beuys.” with the university in Izmir.
